Between the warmth of chestnuts and the darkness of 'Castaween', Barcelona's agenda is filled with proposals to experience our autumn festival with mystery, fun and a lot of tradition

25 october of 2026 at 05:30h

That time of year arrives when the smell of chestnuts and sweet potatoes returns to the city streets. Although scary costumes have gained ground in recent years, in Barcelona we are clear: chestnuts and panellets continue to be our most authentic plan and the most irresistible of autumn. It is a celebration with centuries of history that reflects our identity, family, and tradition.

In the coming days, the city offers the best of two worlds: from the 50 traditional stalls where you can get your hot paper cone of chestnuts, to eerie and fun proposals that mix our universe with a touch of mystery and terror.

Also, we fill the table with panellets, a traditional sweet of Arab origin made with marzipan dough and pine nuts. During these dates, the city's bakeries prepare tons of panellets.
