Third chapter of the audiovisual series that the Hac Te hub has produced in collaboration with The New Barcelona Post. In the capsules that make up Arte+Ciencia+Tecnología (Art+Science+Technology), creators, researchers, curators, teachers, and entrepreneurs reflect on the synergies between the three disciplines that form this alliance promoted by a dozen Catalan institutions to position the Catalan capital as a reference hub in artech.
The capsules can be seen on Hac Te's YouTube channel and in this new section we have opened in The New Barcelona Post. Published on Wednesdays, the series addresses a different topic each week to deepen the links between art, science, and technology. From collaborations between artists, scientists, and technologists, to the way we face multidisciplinary challenges. The digital art ecosystem in Catalonia and the social and economic impact of digital culture are also valued.
The videos feature the participation of Hac Te's partners: the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), Eina – University Center of Design and Art, Hangar – Center for artistic production and research, TheNewArtFoundation, Sónar, Fira Barcelona, Tech Barcelona, the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO).
This week, the concept of digital art and Barcelona's position in this discipline is analyzed and clarified. Participants include the professor from the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) Irma Vilà; resident artist Pedro Torres; artist and UOC professor Joan Soler-Adillon; Hangar's soft/hardware Lab technician Miguel Ángel de Heras, and the director of the NewArtFoundation, Vicente Matallana.
After this Wednesday's chapter, one more will be pending. The fourth video, to be published on May 10, talks about the economic and social impact of digital culture in Catalonia. The first one reflects on the need to provide transversal answers from the fields of arts, science, and technology to complex contemporary challenges such as climate change or digital transformation, while the second one analyzes the collaborations between the three disciplines involved.
