The construction project for the future Sagrera station and the urbanization of its surroundings will be carried out by Fermín Vázquez's studio, b720 Arquitectura. The temporary union of companies formed by b720 Arquitectura, Ayesa Ingeniería Arquitectura, and Pegi Engineering has unanimously won the tender, with a budget of 5.2 million euros and a term of 24 months.
The new station, where railway works are progressing at a good pace and Rodalies trains have been passing through it since December, will have a wooden canopy as its emblematic element, according to La Vanguardia. The details of the project will be presented in the coming days.
Fermín Vázquez's studio has been responsible for many emblematic buildings in the city of Barcelona, such as the new Mercat dels Encants or the Agbar Tower, in collaboration with Jean Nouvel. He is also the architect of the City of Justice, with David Chipperfield, the Porta Fira towers by Toyo Ito, and the Lleida-Alguaire Airport.
