Family businesses are much more than business projects: they are part of the economic and social identity of the territories where they are born and grow. They generate employment, boost economic activity, transmit knowledge between generations, and contribute to keeping the local productive fabric alive. Their connection with the environment and their ability to give continuity to long-term projects make them key actors in understanding the economic evolution of Catalonia.
With this perspective, En Clau Familiar, the new cycle of conversations promoted by ASCEF, EY and The New Barcelona Post, will hold its first meeting next October 27 in Osona, dedicated to the relationship between family business and the territory. The session will take place in the Torras i Bages Room of the Vic Seminary, from 12:00 to 13:30 h, and will have the collaboration of the Osona Business Council (CEDO).
Capacity is limited to 100 people and prior registration is required to attend.
During the last half hour of the day, from 13:00 to 13:30 h, attendees will be able to participate in a networking space with appetizers, which will allow for continued exchange of experiences and generate new contact opportunities among participants.
Entrepreneurs and representatives of the business world, in conversation
The session will bring together voices from the business and institutional world to address this issue from different perspectives. Speakers will include Gemma Vivet, CEO of Grup Gepork and president of CEDO; Rosa Tous, corporate vice president of TOUS and president of ASCEF; and Joan Tubau, partner responsible for Audit at EY in Barcelona.
The central moment of the meeting will be a conversation between Francesc Giné Sabata, general director of Grup Gepork, and Julià Ferrer, general director of Frigorífics Ferrer, who will share their experience at the head of two family businesses rooted in Osona.
The meeting aims to open a space for reflection on how family businesses contribute to the development of the territories where they carry out their activity, as well as on the challenges they face to continue generating value, employment, and opportunities in their environment.
An itinerant cycle to discuss the challenges of family businesses
The Osona meeting is the first stop of En Clau Familiar, an initiative that will tour Catalonia with three in-person sessions dedicated to some of the most relevant dimensions of family businesses: territory, generational succession, and talent.
After the session in Osona, the cycle will continue in Reus, on November 18, with a conversation focused on generational succession and the continuity of business projects, and will conclude in Girona, on December 1, with a meeting dedicated to talent, corporate culture, and the role of people within the family business.
The project aims to generate inspiring conversations among entrepreneurs, institutional representatives, and agents from each territory, and to expand its reach beyond in-person meetings. For this reason, the sessions will be combined with the production of chronicles and audiovisual capsules that will allow sharing the most outstanding ideas and experiences through The New Barcelona Post's digital channels.
