The last mile is one of the great pending subjects that cities face, which have to find a system that allows them to respond to the increase that e-commerce is registering without further congesting their centers, in addition to avoiding continuing to increase urban pollution. Many companies are trying various formulas to respond to it, waiting to see which one ends up prevailing. One of them is EcoScooting, which focuses on offering last-mile services to logistics, e-commerce, and retail companies, especially in the fashion and food sectors. It does so with vans, bicycles, and motorcycles, 65% of which are electric.
With the Cooltra group as the main shareholder with 45% of the capital, this company has its tax headquarters in Barcelona, but it is in Madrid where it concentrates a good part of its activity in the country. With a fleet of 250 vehicles throughout Spain, 90 are located in the Catalan capital, which distribute packages through two delivery points, located on Llul and Reina Cristina streets. It also operates in Portugal and Mexico.
After seeing its sales multiply by 2.5 between January and July of this 2021 compared to last year, the company has just closed a round of 500,000 euros, which should allow it to increase the number of electric vehicles it has and improve its technological platform, as well as to expand to other cities in Spain, such as Valladolid, Zaragoza, and A Coruña.
The resources it has just obtained are added to those it obtained in May 2020, when it managed to raise 575,000 euros from private investors and family offices related to companies such as Rastreator, Caprabo, and Lidl.
