Menopause is a taboo that still silences many women today. The stigma generated around female aging is so great that few women know everything that this stage of their life entails, which in many cases, can last half of a woman's adult life. There is so little research and accompaniment of the symptomatology, as well as natural solutions to menopause that many women feel alone, even being reluctant to comment aloud on everything that happens to them during this stage of life. DOMMA was born to fight against this taboo, to strip women of these shames and provide them with a safe, educational space with real solutions to be able to live menopause to the fullest. Five years after its launch, the company already has a community of 350,000 women, who, through their subscription plans, receive professional help and natural products to face all the changes that come their way. An informed success solution that makes women feel a little less alone.

"Women have no idea what menopause entails even though we will all go through this stage at one time or another," explains Mireia Roca, co-founder of DOMMA, to The New Barcelona Post. Roca met her partner, Cristina Martínez, in a way that the Barcelona business ecosystem loves to tell: by setting up another company. Both were part of the Incapto team, but when Martínez began to have premenopausal symptoms, the entrepreneurs saw a clear gap in the market. They decided to join forces and dedicate their efforts to finding a way to build a community, interactive and safe space for women to get informed. DOMMA was born from the need for knowledge of its co-founders, but also the desire to share this knowledge with other women in the world.

The company operates on a subscription model. Women interested in learning more about menopause symptoms or natural solutions for some of the discomforts just need to visit the website and choose the plan they like best. Within these subscriptions, there are various products, but also the possibility of having a personalized plan carried out by professionals who accompany clients throughout the process: "We provide initial advice, set up an action plan, and the possibility of speaking with an individual coach 24 hours a day, 7 days a week," says Roca. A complete program, then, that seeks to enable women to share experiences and truly know everything they have never been taught, but which is evidently part of the natural aging of the female body.

Natural hormone-free products

Currently, DOMMA has specialized in a range of natural hormone-free products to help improve menopause symptoms. These have been tested and are endorsed by professionals. Specifically, DOMMA offers six individual products: Equilibrio, a natural supplement to relieve hot flashes, fatigue, and promote emotional balance; Descanso, to improve insomnia and night sweats; Deseo, a drinkable supplement with six plant extracts to help recover libido, energy, and intimate well-being; Bienestar Íntimo, a moisturizing serum to combat intimate dryness; En Forma, a supplement to control body changes, weight, and cravings, activate metabolism, and preserve muscles and bones, and Calma, a relaxing herbal infusion to combat night sweats. The brand also markets Reset Emocional, an aromatherapy product to promote emotional balance.

Regarding ingredients, DOMMA bases its formulas on a combination of natural ingredients, adaptogens, vitamins, and minerals, selected to address different symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. Among the main plant-based ingredients included by the brand are shatavari and fenugreek, linked to hormonal balance; tribulus terrestris and maca, aimed at sexual desire and energy; rhodiola, associated with mental and cognitive performance; ashwagandha, related to relaxation and physical and mental well-being, and sage, used to combat hot flashes and sweats. The brand also incorporates reishi and California poppy, as well as almond, evening primrose, avocado, chamomile, sage, and ylang-ylang oils in its formulations. According to DOMMA, the products are developed based on scientific research and with the advice of specialists in women's health.

A sincere community

DOMMA seeks to be the space for body knowledge for women with menopause. All its products have been tested in clinical studies and have a long list of research behind them. The idea behind the brand is to gain more knowledge of female aging and, therefore, empower women. That is why they also work with a community of professionals and have started to open distribution lines in pharmacies. The goal is to become the reference brand for women with menopause. In fact, Roca assures this newspaper that a few years ago "we were the only ones," but that there is increasing interest in analyzing the symptomatology and the female body from certain ages: "Now it's trending topic," ironizes the co-founder, who reflects on their role in this change and how they have managed to "be a reference for mature women."

With a team of eight people, DOMMA is in the process of closing its third round of financing, with a target of 600,000 euros. The co-founder explains that the brand is focused on international expansion, although there is no country that predominates on its priority list yet. Thus, DOMMA consolidates its commitment to respond to the needs of women during perimenopause and menopause. Its studies, its solutions, and its connection with professionals in the sector have made the company founded by Roca and Martínez a reference for mature women seeking information, support, and, above all, a supportive community.
