Corus dental laboratories buy Scandinavian Nordentic

The merger with the dental company, originally from Mälmo (Sweden), is the gateway to the Nordic countries with a network of 13 laboratories and an additional business of 40 million euros annually

The Barcelona-based dental laboratory group Corus has acquired the Scandinavian company Nordentic, in an operation that involves the incorporation of 13 laboratories spread across Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. The dental company, originally from Malmö (Sweden), contributes an additional business of 40 million euros annually and raises the Catalan group's revenue forecasts to 180 million euros for 2022. Last year, it recorded sales of 73 million euros.

The resulting digital dental prosthesis group from the merger will offer its services and products in Spain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, and now, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, through a joint network of 63 laboratories and more than 1,500 employees, to serve over 12,000 dental consultations.

Corus did not detail the cost of the operation but indicated that the executives and directors of Nordentic's laboratories will become shareholders of Corus, as it also did in the last acquisition, last March, with the merger of Signadens, a group of laboratories operating in the Netherlands and Belgium. Now, there will also be a reorganization of the management teams: Nordentic's current CEO, Johnny Tekin, will become a key executive within Corus and will maintain his responsibilities in the Scandinavian region.

Meanwhile, current private equity investors Careventures and Quadrum Capital have committed to continue supporting the Catalan company's growth plans, but private investor Adelis—a Nordentic shareholder—has withdrawn from the capital.

Corus's strategy involves, in addition to European expansion, accelerating the digitalization of its services, as stated by Nicolas Bonnard, who co-leads the group with Jeroen Van Asten. The Catalan company for dental prostheses and orthodontics operates as a fully integrated digital platform where dentists can interact with the laboratory and the patient, while ensuring the traceability of the entire service. Founded in 2015, it currently has two decision centers, in Barcelona and Amersfoort (Netherlands).
