The family group Comsa Corporación has been awarded an important contract in Peru through GMF, its subsidiary specialized in the maintenance of railway rolling stock. This involves the comprehensive maintenance, for 25 years, of the first underground metro line in Lima, a project that will translate into a business volume exceeding 250 million euros.
As explained by Comsa, the works will be carried out on Line 2 of the Lima and Callao Metro and will include three areas: maintenance of passenger rolling stock, maintenance of auxiliary railway vehicles, and maintenance of facilities. For this contract, GMF has the assistance of Metro Madrid.
The comprehensive maintenance of passenger rolling stock includes daily control of trains before starting commercial service. In addition, it provides for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of train units according to manufacturer's instructions, as well as other general revisions and technical cleanings. Furthermore, the contract includes the maintenance of VAFs, vehicles used for support tasks in railway operation, such as track inspection, infrastructure maintenance, transport of workers and supplies, among others. Thus, GMF will be responsible, among other functions, for planning maintenance and regular inspections of these vehicles, and for carrying out necessary repairs. Finally, the company will also be responsible for the maintenance of the facilities necessary for the execution of the project.
The contract has been awarded by the Concessionaire Society Metro de Lima Línea 2, which includes the concessionaires Iridium (ACS) and Vialia (FCC), as well as the Italian companies WeBuild Group, Ansaldo STS and Ansaldo Breda (the latter two belonging to the Hitachi group), and the Peruvian construction company Cosapi.
Headquartered in Barcelona, Comsa, a construction and services group controlled by the Miarnau family, had a turnover of 886 million euros in 2022 and its workforce exceeds 5,000 employees.
