One month remains until the start of the second edition of Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW), organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona and which will take place from October 5 to 8 in various emblematic settings of the Catalan capital.

More than 800 speakers will participate in this hybrid event, double that of 2020, which on this occasion will be structured around ten thematic axes that can be followed through an online technological platform that this year will also be available in a mobile version. The ten verticals will be broadcast simultaneously, so that registered users can connect to the sessions that interest them most and which will be broadcast live from studios located in different parts of the city. In total, 240 hours of content will be offered. Although the monitoring will be online, in each of the physical spaces hosting BNEW there will also be an in-person audience, although very limited as a consequence of the pandemic.

The objective of BNEW is to bring closer the main keys and challenges for an economic recovery based on innovation and new businesses derived from digitalization and sustainability. The meeting is 100% professional and it is expected that the more than 11,000 users registered in the first edition, from more than one hundred countries, will be "far exceeded".

With the challenge of projecting the recovery of the global economy from Barcelona, BNEW has expanded the thematic axes it will address from five to ten. The verticals dedicated to debating the logistics sector (BNEW Logistics), real estate (BNEW Real Estate), industrial (BNEW Digital Industry), e-commerce (BNEW Ecommerce) and economic zones (BNEW Economic Zones) are repeated.

To these, BNEW Talent is added, focused on how to attract and retain talent in the new economy; BNEW Science, to strengthen the importance of science and knowledge transfer; BNEW Sustainability, to address the challenge of planetary sustainability; BNEW Mobility, on the transformation of urban mobility; and BNEW City, a space that accommodates cultural, leisure and gastronomic activities.

Thus, in the different debates and panels that will take place throughout the four days of the event, issues such as the impact of teleworking, the irruption of proptech, last-mile logistics, cryptocurrencies, the impact of 5G on the industry, the importance of public-private collaboration, the cultural potential of Barcelona, the advance of electric mobility, and the challenge of sustainability in sectors such as fashion or food will be addressed.

Estación de Francia will be one of the main venues of BNEW for the second year, and the sets installed in the Movistar Center in Plaça Catalunya and Casa Seat will also be repeated. As a novelty, La Pedrera and the Roca Gallery center are also incorporated, although another stage is also expected to be set up in an open-air space that will allow more in-person public if the authorities allow it, as advanced by the special delegate of the State in the Zona Franca Consortium, Pere Navarro, in an interview published by The New Barcelona Post.
