It has been 25 years since ISEA is held. 25 years and 25 different cities that have hosted one of the most important electronic art symposiums in the world. In this new edition, it will be Barcelona's turn. From June 10 to 16, 2022, the Catalan capital will be the meeting point for artists, designers, scientists, and technologists from all over the world to present their electronic art pieces to society and share experiences and knowledge to face present and future challenges.

The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) will be the main partner and promoter of the event, in collaboration with the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), the Barcelona City Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Arts Santa Mònica, and the New Art Foundation. The Minister of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat, Natàlia Garriga, considers that the choice of Barcelona by the ISEA organizers is "great news, an opportunity to connect the world of art, science, and society with the country's cultural community, while reinforcing Barcelona's leadership as a hub for digital and sound art creation."

The prelude to ISEA 2022 is the Ars Electronica Garden which, for the second consecutive year, has Barcelona as its international venue under the theme Hybrid Times - Interdependence. The Garden is part of the Ars Electronica Festival, a prominent event that has been held for 42 years in the Austrian city of Linz and deals with topics related to electronic creation and the synergies between art, technology, science, and society.

The Ars Electronica Garden activities will take place until this Sunday, September 12, at the Canòdrom-Ateneu d'Innovació Digital i Democràtica, which, together with the Espronceda Institute of Art & Culture and the Institut de Arquitectura Avançada de Catalunya, will organize exhibitions, talks, and workshops with established and emerging creators on leading trends in digital art. In addition to in-person events, there will also be online activities.
