Barcelona celebrates a new gastronomic success: four of its restaurants have been included in the prestigious Red Guide. During the presentation ceremony of the Michelin Guide 2025, held last night in Murcia, the commitment of the Catalan award winners to conscious and environmentally respectful cuisine, without renouncing creativity, was highlighted.
With these new additions and two losses ---Moments, by Raül Balam, which has gone from two to one star, and Xerta, which has lost its star---, the city now has a total of 29 Michelin stars.
The four new additions to the Michelin Guide 2025
Teatro Kitchen Bar was one of the big favorites of the night. Here, chef Oliver Peña stands out with a menu based on snacksand tapas, which the Red Guide defines as"varied, fun and, at times, groundbreaking". Peña has managed to pick up the legacy of Tickets and give it a new air, deeply rooted in local ingredients, with proposals such as the kilometer 0 quelites taco, thecannoloCatalan or thenigiricrispy bull. Peña also currently advises the Can Bo restaurant of the Gran Hotel Central, a highly recommended stop if no tables are found at Teatro. On the contrary, very few bets had included Fishølogy as a winner, defined by the guide as "one of Barcelona's most original proposals." Chef Riccardo Radice and Giulia Gabriele are authentic sea charcutiers, specializing in techniques such as salting, curing, charcuterie, and smoking. Recently, the 360°Eat Guide has also recognized them for their sustainable work, as they work exclusively with wild fish, often unconventional, and adopt a rigorous approach to minimize waste, thus promoting a gastronomic model committed to the environment.
The other two additions to the Michelin guide 2025 were also expected. On the one hand, the Prodigi restaurant, where chef Jordi Tarré "creates exquisitely elegant and nuanced elaborations," with dishes such as red cordyceps curry or sea bass with broad beans and menjar blanc. For its part, MAE, the project by Mariella Rodríguez, Diego Mondragón, and Germán Espinosa, presents, according to Michelin, "a surprising combination of products from different origins." It is a local cuisine with a global projection, from which Michelin highlights creations such as Santiago cake with ají and Latin American tepache.
Other awards in the province and in Catalonia
In the province of Barcelona, restaurants committed to sustainability stand out, with their own gardens and a transformative vision of gastronomy.
