Countdown to start the works that will connect the tram along Diagonal. The BIMSA board of directors agreed this Friday to award the first lots of civil works for the first phase of the union of Trambesòs and Trambaix, which runs from Plaza Glòries to Verdaguer. The works are expected to begin in the coming months, later than planned a year ago, when the agreement between the municipal government and ERC that made it possible to resume this action was announced and the start date was set for this autumn.
For an amount of 46 million euros, the awarded lots correspond to the implementation of the tram network between Plaza Glòries and Girona street, and to the urbanization of Diagonal avenue up to Girona. The temporary union of companies formed by Ferrovial, Rubau and Copisa will be in charge of urbanizing the Canòpia park in Glòries and the tram passage through this area, for 8.3 million euros.
The other three lots include the implementation of the infrastructure between Glòries and Girona, as well as the urbanization of the area, up to Paseo Sant Joan. The section between Gran Via and Lepant will be in the hands of Vias and CRC Obras y servicios, for an amount of 10.1 million euros. In the next one, from Lepant to Nàpols, Copcisa, Sacyr and Scrinser will execute the works, for 16.6 million euros. Finally, the tram construction between Nàpols and Girona and the urbanization between Nàpols and Paseo Sant Joan, will be carried out by Comsa and FCC, for 10.9 million euros.
According to the bidding documents published in June, the estimated duration of the works for the four lots is 21 months. After the award of these lots, five more will still be pending, corresponding to the systems and tracks of the infrastructure. They are expected to be awarded in the coming months. Likewise, the second phase of the tram union corresponds to the section between Francesc Macià and Verdaguer. According to the agreement reached a year ago, these works are expected to be executed at the latest when those of the first phase are completed.
