Veritran knew Barcelona and its business environment after visiting it every year for the Mobile World Congress (MWC). This was one of the factors that convinced it to locate its first office in Europe, which was to serve as the starting point for its expansion on the continent. Thinking about the exhibitor they will have this February at the MWC, the head of the Barcelona office, Gabriela Giannattasio, explains that the visit to Barcelona Tech City she made with Veritran's CEO, Marcelo González, was also key. Other aspects that played in favor of the Catalan capital were the presence of international profiles and its leadership as a technological hub of reference for Southern Europe.
Giannattasio recalls how the procedures to open the new headquarters coincided with the first months of the pandemic and the constitution ended up taking place in September 2020. Veritran specializes in offering low code technology to banks to develop digital tools, such as websites or mobile applications, in a standardized way, a need that has been accelerated by covid. The fintech, with a strong presence in Argentina and spread throughout Latin America, is now broadening its focus to reach other sectors, such as retail or health, after having accumulated 17 years of experience in the more traditional banking sector, with clients such as BBVA.
The atypical start of the office in Barcelona was combined with teleworking and has meant that some team members have not fully met until recently. Veritran's office in Barcelona, located on Diagonal, is made up of three employees, who coordinate with other departments of the Argentine multinational, with a global workforce of 400 employees, and work with consultants or companies such as the Navarrese Veridas, Visa and Mastercard to develop certain tasks.
The board explains that growing the team is one of the challenges for 2022, as well as continuing to drive the company's expansion in Europe, by making it known and gaining visibility. During this year and a half, Veritran has been presenting its technology to local companies and has added clients, but it does not indicate who they are or the income they have generated. Unlike the task the multinational does in Latin America, more focused on reducing financial exclusion of the population, the company sees Europe as a market where it can improve customers' digital experience.
