To ensure the health of workers, comprehensively and from prevention. With this objective, the Grup Ametller Origen has launched a new pioneering service in the Catalan distribution sector: the Wellness Area, made up of medical professionals and with emotional support, aimed at the group's more than 3,800 professionals.
With this new area, the company adds a new figure: the Wellness Leaders, responsible for ensuring the emotional health of Ametller's professionals, whether in one of its 147 establishments —56 of them in Barcelona city— or in its central workshop or its 1,800 hectares of own fields.
The service, available 24 hours a day, all week, is anonymous and confidential, to support company members who need help in both personal and professional spheres. In addition, the service will be complemented with free campaigns in areas such as change management, self-regulation techniques, sleep routines, and effective emotional communication, through the consultancy AfforHealth.
"The new Wellness Area works with the aim of breaking the taboos that still exist in our society," highlights the general director of Corporate Services of the agri-food group, Jordi Muns. All this, in a context where 62% of citizens place mental health as a main concern for the fourth consecutive year, according to the Mental Health Monitor Spain 2025, and in which the World Health Organization (WHO) pushes in this direction.
"For years we have taken into account safety in all centers and ergonomics in each workplace, but we also want to anticipate any possible emotional situation of the professionals who are part of the project," Muns remarks. The new area arrives a year after the group began offering private medical assistance to its entire staff, with the aim of "sharing the growth of the entire company with professionals," as highlighted by the group's CEO, Josep Ametller.
"Training, well-being, and professional growth are the three pillars that structure our commitment to people," he emphasizes. In fact, the new area is part of the Ametller agreement signed in November, which also establishes salary improvements, more paid leave days, life insurance, and an extra payment for workers with more than six months of seniority, among other aspects.
So much so that the new area represents one of the group's three strategic projects to incorporate, retain, and boost talent within the company through training, well-being, and professional growth. In fact, the company inaugurated this year El Viver, a new ecosystem whose objective is to attract new hires and train them in the craft of specialist salesperson. El Viver, which has trained more than a thousand people since it opened in May, offers an omnichannel training experience, with its epicenter in the store-school located in Plaza Gala Placídia in Barcelona.
This purpose of adding new talent to the group is complemented by the Projecte Arrels, which aims to promote the internal growth of Ametller professionals, through which the group has invested more than three million between July 2024 and December 2025. From this desire to support its staff members, 70% of new responsibility vacancies were filled by internal company personnel, betting on internal promotion within the company, where 98% of contracts are permanent.
