The family group Ametller Origen leads Agrosmed, a new business alliance that has been formed with the aim of obtaining aid for the agri-food sector provided for within the framework of the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) promoted by the Ministry of Industry. In total, 14 companies participate in the project, with a territorial scope that includes 5 autonomous communities (Aragon, Catalonia, Madrid, Murcia, and Valencia) and which will lead to the creation of 300 new jobs by June 2025.

According to Ametller Origen, it is a "structuring project" that proposes the transformation of processes along the agri-food sector's value chain to achieve the decarbonization of the industry, the improvement of product sustainability, and the circularity of processes. The total planned investment is 43.9 million euros, and the alliance of companies aims to obtain 15.2 million from European funds and has also requested a loan of 6.2 million.

Among other companies that are part of the alliance, the Catalan manufacturer of electric chargers Wall Box and the plant-based food production company Heura Foods stand out. MOOMA (Agroalimentaria Mas Saulot), Orgánicos Pedrin, Venvirotech Biotechnology, and a brewing company are also part of the project, named Agrosmed: Sustainable and Circular Agri-industry in the Mediterranean corridor.

Among some of Agrosmed's objectives are the digitalization of the entire value chain, sustainable waste management (more sustainable packaging, reduction of shrinkage and waste), the reduction of the use of fossil fuels to gradually replace them with renewable energy sources, product traceability, the reuse and recirculation of water from production processes, and the revitalization of economic activity and the creation of jobs in rural areas.

Agrosmed consists of 22 primary projects developed by the different companies that make up the alliance (3 for energy saving, 4 for experimental development, 4 for industrial research, 4 for process innovation, and 7 for environmental protection) interrelated with each other and which involve the participation of two research centers as knowledge providers and two collaboration plans in the field of environmental management and the reduction of a product's environmental footprint.
