Bomb news for Barcelona's culture: the Aquitània Teatre has been acquired by two very recognized artists of current culture, el Mago Pop (Antonio Díaz) and Aitana. The venue, located at number 33 Sarrià Avenue, has a capacity of 326 seats and, thanks to its design, offers a hall that guarantees great proximity between the audience and the performers.
The artist from Sant Climent de Llobregat signs, with this purchase, her first major foray into the cultural real estate sector, a field that Antonio Díaz already masters thanks to his previous operations, such as the purchase of the Teatre Victòria or the purchase of the rights to Mar i cel from Dagoll Dagom. According to what they have confirmed, the intention is to create a solid and long-term cultural project that bets on quality, new stories, and the creation of its own and local productions.
A shared dream
Through a statement and a joint video that quickly went viral on social media, the artistic couple has shown their excitement for this project and has highlighted the importance of theatrical venues in the 21st century for connecting with the audience without screens in between.
Aitana explained that "Antonio and I had been dreaming of doing a project together for a long time and we can't think of a more beautiful way to start than by betting on culture and the future of performing arts. We deeply believe in the future of theaters and for us it is a privilege to be able to contribute to preserving and growing such a special space as the Teatre Aquitània. We are very excited to give it a new life and we will work to make Barcelona proud of this project."

With the title of the world's highest-grossing performing artist according to Forbes and with a history of unbeatable records on Broadway, Antonio Díaz has expressed the pride of investing at home again. The magician also took the opportunity to lavish praise on the singer:
"We deeply believe in the transformative power of culture and it is a privilege to be able to invest in our land. We hope to do our part so that Barcelona continues to be an international benchmark for the performing arts and so that more and more artists and professionals find a place here to develop their talent. I had never had any partner in any of my projects and, for that reason, it makes me especially excited that my first partner is Aitana, an artist whom I deeply admire and who, with her talent, her work and her charisma, has consolidated herself as one of the artists with the most impact and relevance in our country."

From neighborhood cinema to talent laboratory: the thousand lives of the Aquitania
The acquisition of the venue by the two artists opens a completely new chapter in the history of one of the most changing venues in the Sarrià district. Its doors originally opened in 1945 under the name of Cine Infanta. After decades operating as a cinema under the name of Cine Aquitania, the space experienced its golden age in the most cinephile sector by becoming the official headquarters of the Filmoteca de Cataluña for twenty years (from 1991 to 2011), before the institution moved to the heart of Raval.

After a two-year closure period, the venue underwent a transformation and reopened in 2013 as a local theater. Since then, the management of the venue has passed through different hands, such as the company of Teatreneu, the producer Toni Coll or Barc Produccions managing for the company Artisteando SL. During this last period, the venue had focused on commercial comedy, humor and plays for a family audience, but they also had to face various economic problems that led to temporary eviction orders for non-payment of rent.
The Aquitania's billboard has featured great theatrical successes such as Kràmpack, the comedy Ovelles (which can now be seen at Espai Texas), Els dies mentits or the second part of Guillem Clua's great success Smiley: después del amor.

Antonio Díaz's empire gains ground in Barcelona
This acquisition by Antonio Díaz confirms the artist's commitment to Barcelona's cultural properties. The illusionist already took a giant step in 2019 by buying the Victoria Theater from the companies Dagoll Dagom, El Tricicle, and Anexa. Later, in 2023, he acquired a large theater in Missouri (United States) to host his arrival in America.
Recently, the magician from Badia del Vallès had admitted his interest in adding the Regina Theater to his catalog, but the operation was discarded because the property requested the complete purchase of the building. Now, with the Aquitània under his arm and hand in hand with the most influential singer of current Spanish pop, Díaz adds a new creative laboratory in Barcelona.
