Together with researchers, scientists, and experts trained in Barcelona and established worldwide, SciTech DiploHub has raised one million euros to promote international collaboration projects in science and technology from the Catalan capital. A patronage action that aims to make international scientific and technological talent available to Barcelona's ecosystem and its knowledge revert to the city, materializing new opportunities for scientific and business collaboration.

The initiative, which has the institutional support of universities, research centers, the City Council, and the Generalitat, was one of those presented this week at the Barcelona Alumni Global Summit, the annual summit of Barcelona's scientific and technological talent abroad. This time, in virtual format, it brought together more than 300 professionals trained in the Catalan capital who currently hold positions of responsibility in research centers, companies, and universities in some thirty countries.

Another project that materialized during the summit was the announcement of a new headquarters for international projects in the field of scientific and technological diplomacy in the Eixample. "We are inaugurating a space open to the entire Barcelona Alumni community when they travel to the city, which will host the headquarters for international projects in the field of scientific diplomacy," explains the executive director of SciTech DiploHub, Alexis Roig.

With a total area of 700 square meters, the emblematic modernist building Casa Frederic Vallet Xiró II will become a meeting place for researchers, scientific entrepreneurs, experts in new technologies, and diplomacy from around the world. "Given the situation caused by covid-19, which has led to a dramatic decrease in tourist and commercial activity, we want to contribute to revitalizing the center of Barcelona through science and technology and its contribution to major global challenges," he adds.
