Barcelona is a reference point in Europe in the field of private medicine. This sector moves a significant volume of business and attracted thousands of visitors each year, before the pandemic, who, in addition to using these medical services, also took the opportunity to visit the city. In this context, and despite the economic slowdown caused by the COVID crisis, the Belgian group Wellness Kliniek has chosen the Barcelona area to build a plastic surgery clinic in which it will invest more than seven million euros.
The chosen location for the center is next to the AP-7 highway, very close to the Sant Cugat shopping center and the Hospital General de Catalunya. The plot where the project stands, located in the expansion area of the Can Sant Joan sector, was acquired by the Belgian group from Incasòl in 2018 for a total of 838,934 euros. The clinic could create about 30 jobs.
"Barcelona is considered a gateway to Southern Europe; it is an international and very attractive city," explains Marta Tapia, a clinic executive. With this center in Rubí, Wellness Kliniek begins its international expansion plan, which includes the opening of 20 aesthetic surgery clinics in different cities over the next ten years. The goal is to establish the brand not only in Europe but also in Russia, Latin America, and Asia. "We want to create the widest network of plastic surgery clinics in Europe; our philosophy is to offer our patients the possibility of accessing quality surgeries quickly and affordably," adds Tapia.
Wellness Kliniek was born in Genk (Belgium) in 1996 and claims to have treated more than one hundred thousand patients with a history of 3,000 operations annually.
