This Tuesday, March 5, the television version of the documentary series Puig Antich, el llibre vermell premieres, produced by 3Cat with the collaboration of Incís Films, the production company of Must Media, a group to which The New Barcelona Post and the Giny Comunicació agency belong. The documentary can be seen at 10:05 PM on TV3, within the Nits sense ficció slot.

The docuseries, which consists of two 50-minute episodes, is available on the 3Cat platform since last Thursday, February 29, and its premiere coincides with the 50th anniversary of the death of the Catalan anarchist, executed by garrote vil in Barcelona's Modelo prison, on March 2, 1974.

Puig Antich, el llibre vermell narrates the events that led the Franco regime to condemn Salvador Puig Antich to death, analyzing everything that happened from the day of his arrest and thoroughly reviewing the irregularities of the process and the maneuvers carried out by the regime to sustain the official version. Likewise, according to Incís Films and 3Cat, the documentary "is a portrait of the young anarchist, of his militancy, and of the social and political situation of the time."

The documentary team, directed by Xavier Sanjuan, had access to the original documentation of the case, which is usually not very accessible and was previously unpublished. In addition, a member of the Puigantich family who had not been spoken of until now is discovered: Monique Puig, daughter of the late Joaquim Puig Antich, Salvador's older brother, who moved to the United States in the 1960s.

When she was little, Monique knew nothing about her Catalan family. The arrival of the red book at her home made her start asking questions. It was from this book, a compilation of press articles, documents, and personal letters from Salvador compiled by one of his sisters, that she discovered the figure of her uncle. Starting from Monique's discovery, the documentary reviews Salvador's story and his last months of life before being executed at the age of 25.

Puig Antich, el llibre vermell features interviews with family members, lawyers, jurists, witnesses, researchers, friends, and anarchist comrades who narrate in the first person what happened and how they experienced it, among whom stand out Salvador's four sisters and his niece Monique Puig; lawyer Francesc Caminal, in charge of Puig Antich's defense; jurist and former Supreme Court magistrate Ángel Juanes, and Tomás Gil, son of the head of the Political-Social Brigade who led the operation to arrest Puig Antich.

Salvador Puig Antich was a member of the MIL, an anarchist group that emerged from workers' struggles and had carried out several robberies. On September 25, 1973, the police launched an operation to arrest one of its members, during which one of the agents was killed. This is the starting point of the series and the circumstance that explains the subsequent events.

Last January, Incís Films, whose executive producer is Guillem Carol, also premiered the documentary series Històries de la Primària on TV3. Comprising six chapters, it is a documentary and entertainment format that was filmed in 15 different CAPs in Catalonia and has allowed to show the complicity of doctors and nurses with their patients.
