With the arrival of good weather, Barcelona's culture moves out of its venues to fill open-air spaces. Terraces, beaches, and streets become the new stages with the city as a backdrop. This summer of 2026, we will be able to enjoy various proposals such as concerts, open-air cinema, or theater that take place when the thermometer starts to rise and the night invites us to experience the city under the stars. Gaudí under the stars
Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, like every summer, become the perfect setting to enjoy a unique combination: live music and heritage. The Nits Màgiques and Talents Jazz return this summer with musical proposals ranging from jazz to bossanova, passing through rumba or pop.
Talents Jazz on La Pedrera's rooftop
Talents Jazz is a series that gives voice to modern music and jazz on the rooftop of La Pedrera. Instead of big international names, this series acts as a loudspeaker for emerging talent from the city's major schools. This summer highlights include concerts by Peñaranda-Garrido Quartet and JD Group (both formations from ESMUC), the proposal by Maite Ruiz de Erentxun from Taller de Músics, and a luxurious closing with the Barcino Quartet, born at the Conservatori del Liceu.
Nits Màgiques at Casa Batlló
Casa Batlló once again offers an immersive experience this summer. The Nits Màgiques is a proposal that starts with a visit to Gaudí's masterpiece and culminates on the rooftop with a concert and a glass of cava. This year, the lineup stands out for a great variety of local genres; among the must-sees of this edition are the singer-songwriter pop of Roger Padrós and Cesc Sansalvadó, rhythm nights with the soul of Gigi McFarlane or Alex Dee, and the festive touch of Muchacho with his Catalan rumba.
Cinema moves to the beach and Montjuïc
If you like cinema, this summer the city is your set. The best open-air cinema series will turn the beach sand and Montjuïc's lawn into the perfect auditorium for auteur films.
Sala Montjuïc: large-format cinema, music, and food trucks
The moat of Montjuïc Castle reopens its doors with its cycle that fuses concerts and cinema on a giant screen. This year's program includes mythical titles such as Thelma & Louise or Fargo, and new and cult films such as Hamnet, Sirat and Marty Supreme. Also not to be missed is the inaugural session with Flores para Antonio or the classic closing night with a surprise film that promises strong emotions. Cinema will once again be the protagonist on Montjuïc mountain on the nights from July 10 to August 5.
Free Cinema on Sant Sebastià Beach
From June 25 to August 10, Barceloneta beach repeats as a free cinema. This cycle stands out for its format: before each feature film, an independent short film from the region is screened.
The great recommendations for this summer are Romería, the latest work by Carla Simón that talks about family roots, and the film Molt lluny. In addition, on Sunday, August 2, the most special night of the season will be experienced with La Tria, a session where the audience itself votes which film they want to see projected on the seashore.
CineClub 113: The cycle of the In-Edit Festival and Sala Apolo
The In-Edit Festival and Sala Apolo join forces to create one of the great novelties of the summer in the venue La (3). Every Monday, this space will become an open-air cinema that connects cult musical documentaries with DJ sessions directly linked to the musical universe of the film.
The unmissable events of this new summer club are the opening night with La 42 (winner of In-Edit 2025), an immersion in the dembow of Santo Domingo; the psychedelic journey of La Danza de Los Mirlos and its Amazonian cumbia; and the closing with MaQKina: Historia de una Subcultura, a sociological journey through the Catalan dance floors of the nineties that will feature a live discussion with its directors.
La Terraza del Claris: magic, jazz and haute cuisine
The Claris Terrace is a Barcelona rooftop very committed to culture. Therefore, this summer it inaugurates the summer season with a luxury gastronomic proposal and a varied cultural agenda. Chef Pedro Salillas signs a new menu of contemporary Mediterranean cuisine that is committed to local products and sustainability.
But the great attraction of its summer nights is the live program: Thursdays are reserved for illusionism with Joana Andreu's magic sessions, while Fridays and Saturdays feature singer and songwriter Yara Beilinson, who will fill the space with classic jazz. As a curiosity, it is worth trying their special cocktail created as a tribute to the Grand Départ of the Tour de France from Barcelona.
Classical on Sant Sebastià Beach
The Gran Teatre del Liceu, L'Auditori, and the Palau de la Música Catalana join forces again to bring symphonic music to the seashore with Clásica en la Playa. This 2026 edition will be held on the nights of July 8 and 9 with a high-quality program. The first night will be led by the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, conducted by Josep Pons, who will offer a universal repertoire to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Petit Liceu.
The second night will be led by the OBC and conductor Ludovic Morlot with Una sinfonía imaginaria (An Imaginary Symphony), a musical journey that will include pieces by Rachmaninoff, Dvořák, and Tchaikovsky. One of this year's great achievements is its accessibility: they will offer vibrating backpacks and induction loops for people with hearing impairments.
Theater raises the curtain outdoors
The city's theater billboard refuses to close for holidays and moves outdoors. Dance and theater are divided between two different experiences: the informal and close touch of rooftops, and the classic stage of the Teatre Grec.
Terrazas en Cultura: the most intimate and local scene
Terrazas en Cultura reaches its 14th edition. And, this summer, it will transform 7 private terraces in Barcelona and L'Hospitalet into small-format stages where the audience and artists almost touch. Among the dozen proposals selected for this summer, the acidic comedy of S'obre el teló (The Curtain Rises) stands out, a stand-up show with Oye Sherman and Esther López.
In the dramatic aspect, we highlight Set nenes jueves. Una obra per a Gaza (Seven Jewish Girls. A Play for Gaza), by Caryl Churchill, a piece that will coexist with more festive proposals such as the Catalan rumba of Acaracan.
The most summery space: the Teatre Grec
The Montjuïc amphitheater is once again the protagonist of the summer thanks to the Grec Festival 2026. Beyond its extensive program, our stone stage will experience unique moments this year. In the theatrical section, we must mention the collaboration of Marta Pazos and Dani Espasa in The Threepenny Opera, as well as the Shakespearean darkness of The True History of Richard III, signed by Calixto Bieito.
Music at the Grec will have memorable nights. For example, the special Cançons del Grec will bring together great names in song on stage such as Maria del Mar Bonet and Mayte Martín; we will also witness the meeting of Raül Refree with Walid Ben Selim in GHAZAL, or the special concert by Roger Mas accompanied by the Cobla Sant Jordi. In dance, the unmissable event is signed by the renowned choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker with her show BREL.
Open-air concerts this summer in Barcelona
We close the proposals for outdoor plans in Barcelona with three major and distinct musical events: the first edition of the BARTS Festival, the elegant and exclusive lineup of Nits d'Occident, or the electronic party for all ages that returns with Brunch Electrònik.
BARTS Festival at Poble Espanyol
Poble Espanyol premieres the first edition of the BARTS Festival. The mythical square of this space will become an open-air stage with very varied musical proposals designed for a diverse audience. Among its lineup for the months of June and July 2026, we find historical artists and much-anticipated returns. In the international sphere, the great highlight is the presence of ZZ Top (the Texas legend returning with the The Big One! tour), the pop of Charlie Puth, the live performance of Belle & Sebastian reinterpreting their album If You're Feeling Sinister, or the Scots Biffy Clyro presenting their acclaimed album Futique.
The national and local presence consists of performances such as those by Gipsy Kings with Los Manolos, or the return of Lax'n'Busto to celebrate their 40 years. Poble Espanyol will also host the presentation of Immortals, the new and anticipated work by Joan Dausà. The golden closing will be signed by Morrissey on July 25, who returns to the city after ten years to present his album Make-up is a Lie.
The Nits Occident in the Pedralbes Gardens
The Jardines del Palau de Pedralbes are once again transformed into an elegant and luxurious musical setting to host the new edition of Nits Occident. This festival offers an elegant format that allows us to enjoy great national and international stars in an intimate setting. For the 2026 edition, the big events come from artists such as Sting, Diana Krall, Mika or ZAZ. The national program is led by Vanesa Martín, Raphael or the special night that Judit Neddermann & GIO Symphonia will offer.
Daytime Electronic Party with Brunch Electronik
Brunch Electronik returns for another summer to show that electronic music can also be enjoyed during the day. The first half of July, Parc de la Trinitat will offer three events with a top international lineup: the opening on July 12 will be led by Laurent Garnier, on July 19 the New York duo The Martinez Brothers will take over with their tech-house, and on July 26 one of the most anticipated DJ Sets of the summer will close the series: that of Disclosure. And if that weren't enough, the Summer Season will move during August and September to its favorite spot and where it all began: the Jardins de Joan Brossa de Montjuïc.
In the coming months, Barcelona becomes a stage where walls disappear and culture is experienced under the stars. Feeling the music among modernist chimneys, getting excited with cinema by the sea, or dancing to the rhythm of electronic music during the day are just some of the proposals that fill this summer's cultural agenda. Because when the heat arrives home, culture is best enjoyed outdoors.
