The professional social network LinkedIn has published its annual report on the main trends in the United States labor market. The study, which analyzes data from the last five years in addition to that obtained through surveys, identifies which jobs and skills are currently most in demand.

Specifically, the five most promising jobs right now in the United States labor market, taking into account the growth they have experienced over the last five years, are the following:

  1. Machine Learning Engineer ("Machine Learning Engineer")
  2. Data Scientist ("Data Scientist")
  3. Sales Development Representative ("Sales Development Representative")
  4. Customer Success Manager ("Customer Success Manager")
  5. Big Data Developer ("Big Data Developer")
The following graph shows the top 20 emerging jobs according to LinkedIn's list:

Among the main conclusions of the LinkedIn report are the following:

  • Technology is king: jobs with the highest growth potential are focused on the technological world.
  • Traditional skills remain important: not all emerging jobs require technical skills. Aspects such as communication or management skills are still very relevant.
  • Jobs with high mobility are on the rise: this is a reflection of broader social trends such as improved quality of life, flexibility, and geographical mobility.
  • There is a scarce supply of talent for key jobs: for example, the demand for data scientists currently exceeds the existing supply.
