The tourism sector is starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel after more than a year of bad news that has accompanied an unprecedented economic crisis. Barcelona-El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport has announced that starting this summer it will have three new direct international lines connecting the Catalan capital with Belfast and Newcastle, operated by Vueling, and Cancun, by Level.

It is expected that the tourism sector will be able to resume its activity in the coming months, and if the health situation allows it, long-distance travel will once again be one of the most common demands of tourists.

Level, part of the IAG group, will offer a connection between Barcelona and Cancun once a week, specifically on Fridays, which will debut on July 2. Flights will depart from El Prat Airport at 2:00 p.m., while from Cancun they will take off on Saturdays at 3:45 p.m.

For its part, Vueling, also part of the IAG group, the new route to Belfast will also debut on July 2 and will have two weekly frequencies, Mondays and Fridays. Likewise, the new connection with Newcastle will begin two days later, on July 4, with flights every Wednesday and Sunday.

With the announcement of these two new connections, the Barcelona-based airline will offer a total of 104 routes from the Catalan capital for this summer season, 78 of these to international destinations.
