Veritas foresees doubling its sales growth in 2024 thanks to the opening of eight new establishments ---six more than in 2023--- and the renovation of another eight points of sale. The Barcelona-based organic supermarket chain will take a new leap in its expansion plan with its entry into Andalusia, where it is finalizing the opening of two establishments in Estepona (Málaga).

According to Veritas, this "ambitious expansion plan" will entail an investment of six million euros and will allow an increase in turnover of 10% compared to the 117 million euros earned in 2023, a year in which it recorded growth close to 5%. The company highlights the 13% increase experienced by its supply division for the restaurant channel, Veritas Eco Food Service, which has invoiced four million.

Throughout 2023, the firm opened two new points of sale in Arenys de Mar and Molins de Rei, both in Catalunya, creating 30 jobs. Now, the chain employs 826 people and has 80 establishments, including the online store. The company operates in Catalunya, Navarra, Basque Country, Balearic Islands, Madrid, Valencia Community and Andorra. The entry into Andalusia with two own stores and, more specifically, in Málaga, is because it is a geographical area where people with high purchasing power live and where they have detected "high potential, considering the unmet demand for organic products."

"We face our ambitious expansion plan with the excitement of reaching new territories, such as Andalusia, and with a growth forecast of 10% for 2024," highlights the general director of Veritas, Anselmo Méndez. In addition to establishing itself in Estepona, this year the chain plans to open in Reus and in Ciudad Quesada (Rojales, Alicante), one of the Spanish towns with the highest index of foreign residents, mainly British and German. There will also be openings in cities where the brand is already present.

Veritas warned this Friday that the current demands of the agricultural sector should not "hinder" the ecological transition process. In this regard, the company referred to the European Commission's decision to withdraw the proposal to halve the use of pesticides. "It is necessary to make measures to boost organic production compatible with the needs of the primary sector, while adopting incentive measures for the consumption of organic products, which presents scientifically proven advantages for the health of the planet and people," Méndez stated.
