The Barcelona-based company Top Doctors, an online platform for finding and contacting the best medical specialists in private healthcare, closed the 2020 fiscal year with a turnover exceeding 12 million dollars (10 million euros) and anticipates reaching 17 million dollars (14 million euros) in 2021. The platform currently has 90,000 professionals from all medical specialties globally and operates in nine markets inside and outside Europe.
The startup currently offers patients tools to access the medical directory, while also offering doctors and healthcare professionals tools to enhance their image and expand their market. "We are proud of the work done in all the countries where we have a presence throughout a year as complex and difficult as 2020 has been. We have worked with the incentive of supporting specialists and doctors, and creating solutions so that patients were attended to in any circumstance. The trend is that they continue to turn to us not only in critical moments, but that they find in Top Doctors the 360 platform for daily health care," assures Alberto E. Porciani, CEO of Top Doctors.
The company launched new tools in 2020 such as a 24-hour instant messaging consultation service, a wallet to manage consultation prepayments, and also an electronic medical prescription service. They currently operate in nine different markets, and this year they intend to strengthen their position in these countries and develop a new tool, a marketplace, which will allow the acquisition of the main laboratory analytics and diagnostic tests online.
The project also aims to help the digitalization process of pharmacies, actively involving them in the care process through the Top Pharma platform. This tool helps in the sales process, the development of online points of sale, as well as customer loyalty tools and support for pharmaceutical advice. "The level of digitalization of pharmacies is still very low, with only 23% of them partially digitized. The implementation of Top Farma has a natural reason for being for us, as it is one more point when closing the circle of the care process and health care. We want to raise awareness among pharmacies of the need for change, and lead the evolution of the process," says Porciani.
