Verdi Cinemas has reached an agreement with the Oh!Jazz platform to screen deferred concerts in its theaters. The objective of this collaboration is to convert the cinemas into a space where jazz fans can enjoy an exclusive offer of the best international concerts.
The series, named Verdi Club, will begin on Wednesday, November 30, with a performance by Rita Satch, an Australian neo-soul singer and a prominent personality of Melbourne's JazzLab club. The second concert, on Wednesday, December 14, will feature trumpeter Mat Jodrell, also Australian and from Melbourne's JazzLab.
In the coming weeks, the Verdi theaters, both in Barcelona and Madrid, will host the performance of Hikari Ichihara, trumpeter and vocalist, from Tokyo's historic Body&Soul jazz club. The concert of saxophonist and great exponent of modern jazz, Raymond McMorrin, based in Japan, will also be screened.
Tickets for these sessions will be priced at 9 euros. To accompany this experience and make it as similar as possible to a live concert, spectators will also receive a beer, included in the ticket.
Verdi Club sessions will take place in Room 4 of Verdi Cinemas in Barcelona. The screenings, which will be held bi-weekly, are just another example of the chain's commitment to culture. "We want to support culture beyond weekly premieres," says David García, head of programming at Verdi. In addition to this initiative, which takes place on Wednesdays, the cinemas have an agenda of activities during the rest of the week consisting of art documentaries or opera sessions.
Oh!Jazz Platform
Oh!Jazz is an international subscription platform that allows viewing a selection of live jazz concerts by the most important artists of the moment. Thanks to this proposal, jazz lovers can enjoy more than 150 concerts a year.
The Oh!Jazz project was created by Jesús Perezagua, former president of Fox Networks Europe & Africa, and Dan Bessant, former head of programming, entertainment, and music at Foxtel and music director of Nova Network. The platform seeks to enable artists to expand their reach and connect with an unlimited audience.
