Braingaze lands in North America. The spin-off of the University of Barcelona (UB) in digital cognitive health has closed a license agreement with biopharmaceutical company Tris Pharma, granting the American company exclusive rights to commercialize Braingaze's digital platform, focused on the diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), in the United States and Canada.
The biopharmaceutical company will conduct clinical trials in the United States with Braingaze's digital tool, which has already been validated in Europe and obtained CE marking as a medical device in 2016. This Braingaze diagnostic solution is the first of its kind based on biomarkers and enhanced with Artificial Intelligence.
This tool is designed to facilitate ADHD diagnosis with a unique methodology: it consists of a computer game and patented eye-tracking technology, with the aim of measuring users' attention. These measurements provide doctors with scores for both the probability and severity of the disorder in each patient.
The tool from the UB spin-off, which closed a 1.5 million financing round in March, represents an improvement in diagnosis in terms of objectivity, in a context where "patients and doctors need more objective and validated tools to support accurate ADHD diagnoses beyond current subjective assessments," according to Tris Pharma founder and CEO, Ketan Mehta.
The biopharmaceutical company has opted for Braingaze after analyzing multiple digital diagnostic technologies for this disorder, and chose its solution after concluding that its test "substantially outperforms other tools designed to provide objective assessment and diagnosis of ADHD," according to Tris Pharma's President of Branded Division, James Hackworth.
Braingaze CEO and co-founder, Laszlo Bax, celebrated the agreement with Tris, "another leader in the ADHD space that has an exceptional track record with four marketed drugs," in order to expand the reach of the Barcelona-based spin-off's solutions.
