The Paranimf of the University of Barcelona (UB) will vibrate this February with the most attractive proposals from the emerging music scene. With all tickets sold out, during the Vespres d'Hivern concert series jazz singer Lucia Fumero, Irish duo Red Stamp, composer Anna Ferrer, and multifaceted Marc Vilajuana will perform. The artistic direction is in charge of the L'Afluent cooperative, also responsible for the curation of Barcelona Acció Musical (BAM) during the Mercè festivities.

With these concerts, the Vespres d'Hivern celebrate ten years of trajectory this year, after the university decided in 2016 to complement its summer concert series with a winter program. In that first edition, an emerging Rosalía performed alongside Raúl Fernández, known as Refree, to present one of the Catalan artist's first projects, Los Ángeles. Since then, artists such as Maria Hein, Tarta Relena, and Nil Ciuró have passed through the festival.

Lucia Fumero will be in charge of inaugurating the tenth edition of this series on Tuesday, February 18, with her proposal Folklore, an exploration of her musical roots and her Catalan, Argentine, and Swiss origins. In this double album, the composer and pianist fuses traditional Catalan song with jazz rhythms.

The Irish duo Red Stamp, formed by Aoife Nessa Frances and Nuria Graham, will perform next Thursday, February 20. Influenced by the magical folk of their homeland, with touches of harp and drum machines, Red Stamp will premiere a musical journey where the two members mix and complement each other to become a single voice. Anna Ferrer will be the next artist to take the university stage. Ferrer will perform on Tuesday, February 25, with the presentation of her new project Parenòstic, where the Minorcan artist deconstructs traditional song, incorporating synthesizers, to demystify it and make it universal.

The multifaceted Marc Vilajuana, along with guitarist Joel Carro, will close this UB concert series with the presentation of his double album Solstici and Equinocci on Thursday, February 27. These works combine Catalan singer-songwriter music, minimalism, and ancient sacred chant. All performances begin at eight in the evening, although the venue will open its doors half an hour earlier.

The Paranimf of the UB is the setting for this concert series.
