The Torres twins create a new business line: Torres en Casa

The pandemic has forced all great chefs to reinvent themselves or to conceive new business lines that perhaps will not be temporary, but have come to stay. The Torres brothers are no exception.

They assure that theirs is not a delivery nor a take away. Torres en Casa is a proposal that goes much further than the simple concept of food to go. The objective of Sergio and Javier Torres is to transfer to their clients' homes a concept as in vogue as that of living "a unique experience," because now it's not just about eating or enjoying, but about living "experiences."

It is not a typical delivery because instead of ordering individual dishes, you have to order an already closed menu and because the food is not served in just any way in plastic or cardboard containers, but in a "elegantly and sophisticatedly designed" box that will guarantee that "the experience is impactful" from the very first moment.

But what is Torres en Casa about? It's about being able to eat some of the best dishes from the Barcelona restaurant Cocina Hermanos Torres in your own living room with the promise of assuring the diner "the same level of excellence" that they would find in the splendid dining room run by the twins on Taquígraf Serra street.

Choose between three menus

It's not about choosing the dishes one wants and waiting for a biker to bring them, but about choosing between three complete proposals designed for two people, that is, menus that include an appetizer, first and second course, two desserts, a bottle of wine and another of mineral water from the relaunched Vilajuïga brand. Each option is wonderfully presented inside a box that includes tweezers to give the final touch to the dishes (these extra ingredients are also included) and a menu signed by the Torres brothers that incorporates a QR code to download a video to your mobile phone in which the famous chefs explain what to do to complete, heat, and prepare each recipe.

Although it is a concept very much thought for the pandemic Christmas that awaits us, the Torres brothers are convinced that this new line of business "is here to stay," as it allows their cuisine to travel and, furthermore, it adapts very well to that type of public with high purchasing power who are constantly looking for novelties or proposals to surprise. Hermanos Torres en Casa has also been conceived as a gift or as a Christmas hamper and the content of the boxes will change depending on the season.

Box containing the Tradición menu, with sea bass marinated in citrus salt, seaweed caviar and fondant vegetables; Grandma Catalina's cannelloni with truffle and foie gras; lemon pie with ginger and toasted meringue; La Joya and pairing with a white wine from DO Empordà (Terra Remota) and Vilajuïga water, also from Empordà.

The new gastronomic line is born with three menus: Tradición (170 euros), Evolución (195 euros) and Ilusión (230 euros); prices are for two people. Not counting water, the only element common to all boxes is La Joya, one of Cocina Hermanos Torres' chocolate desserts. The price varies depending on whether marinated sea bass and cannelloni (Tradición), onion cream and cod (Evolución) or Huelva scarlet prawn and creamy beef (Ilusión) are ordered.

The gastronomic boxes can be ordered by phone or email and Cocina Hermanos Torres sends them to any corner of Spain, within three working days. There is also the option of picking up the menus at the restaurant itself. Home deliveries are free only in Barcelona.
