A 52-meter high free fall that will elevate its daring visitors 500 meters above sea level and with a 360-degree view over Barcelona. This will be the highlight of the new season of the Tibidabo Amusement Park, which will reopen its doors this Saturday. It will do so still without having in operation what is called to be one of its star attractions, which will come into operation during this spring.
Thus, the free fall, of circular design and with capacity for 24 people, is now in the installation phase, with works and jobs that have cost 2.4 million euros. The attraction will rise above the skyline of the city that Tibidabo draws from Collserola in the shape of a magic wand and with a name still pending to be specified.
Despite not yet having the free fall in operation, Tibidabo opens the season with novelties. Among them, changes in its most terrifying facet stand out: the hitherto Hotel Krüeger is renamed Hotel 666 and will add a new proposal, Espai 666. Conceived as a meeting space or meet&greet, visitors will be able to meet hotel characters and take photos with them.
The change of name of the emblematic hotel is accompanied by changes in the name of the six floors of the amusement park. From this season, they will be known as Àrea Panoràmica, Somnis, 666, Xerinola and Aventures. These new names will also be accompanied by a renovation of the Tibidabo viewpoints, with furniture changes in its Àrea Panoràmica and horror elements in the new Mirador 666. In addition, the Mirador Somnis will premiere an exhibition of stereoscopic images that will bring 19th-century photographs to life through mirrors that will give them three dimensions.
In addition, Tibidabo will premiere a new proposal for its Lego Room. The CreaTibi by Lego space will foster scientific vocations through programming and decoration inspired by the arrival of women on the moon. In a proposal in which Abacus Educació has collaborated, the space will offer didactic materials and virtual reality content that will allow its young visitors to interact with content related to robotics and space.
The novelties of this season will not be limited only to its facilities and spaces, but extend to the shows, with proposals for all audiences and with new solidarity initiatives. In addition, Tibidabo is working to position its upper floor as a must-see for anyone visiting the Catalan capital, due to the panoramic views offered by its viewpoint, explained the director of the amusement park, Rosa Ortiz.
Tibidabo expects to exceed 708,000 visitors to the park this season, and 806,000 passengers on its access funicular, the Cuca de LlumWith these novelties, Tibidabo faces its new season with the prospect of maintaining the growth trend of recent years. In this sense, aims to exceed 708,000 visitors during 2024, after having received 681,000 in 2023, 10% more than the previous year. It also expects to increase travelers with its Cuca de Llum, the funicular that takes visitors to this high-altitude amusement park. Surpassing the park's visitors, the Tibidabo exceeded 806,000 passengers on the Cuca de Llum last season, and this season it aims to reach 900,000. All in a season that opens this Saturday and in which it maintains its ambition to be more than an amusement park and consolidate itself as an emblematic space of the city with educational, sports, and cultural proposals.
