The Mercè 2023 festivities will host from September 22 to 24 the third edition of Terra i Gust, the sustainable food festival. The new edition of the festival will be located in Ciutadella Park on Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on the weekend from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. It is a proposal of up to fourteen dishes for a price of 5 euros each. The gastronomic event offers talks, showcookings and activities to change habits and discover gastronomy from a more sustainable practice with the support of fourteen restaurants in the city.
Terra i Gust offers the opportunity to have fun and enjoy music, food and drink in a more ecological way. The festival pays homage to local and healthy foods, as well as to the people who prepare them and care for the planet. The Barcelona City Council organizes the event with the collaboration of the Baix Llobregat Gastronomy and Tourism Association and Slow Food Barcelona.
This year, the establishments Bistrot Levante, Casa Xica, Contracorrent, El Filete Ruso, Espai Puntal, Green Leka, Happy Foods, La Sosenga, Les Finestres de Llúria, Llamber, Mescladis, Zaza-Cuina i Vi, and Monocrom will participate. The artisanal ice cream parlor with local products Delacrem will star in the sweetest moment of the evening with its desserts. On the other hand, Rodyna will be in charge of representing Ukrainian cuisine due to the invitation of the city of Kyiv to the La Mercè festivities.
The drinks area once again has the collaboration of the Barcelona Beer Festival (BBF), which has selected four craft beer producers with local products. Ciutadella Park will also set up a space for natural wines from the Barcelona winery L'Olivera (Can Calopa). Mercat Arrels and small producers from its network also collaborate to offer different tastings of artisan products.
The new edition of Terra i Gust presents a special event. On Monday, September 25, a popular reuse meal will be organized with all the leftover ingredients and products from Terra i Gust, by Sobres mestres.
Andreu Escrivà, a Valencian popularizer and environmentalist, will be the leading voice on sustainability at a national level, as well as the live broadcast of the section L'arca de Nogué from the weekend morning program El Suplement of Catalunya Ràdio.
The BBF will offer different talks on social and cooperative projects related to the world of beer. The gastronomic counterpoint will be provided by the II edition of the Slow Food BCN Gastronomic Responsibility Awards, the showcookings by Quim Casellas, Mònica Escudero with products from Mercats de Barcelona, Pere Carrió and the students of CETT, with seasonal and local products, promoting food utilization.
The Terra i Gust proposal is part of the city's Food Strategy, which aims to establish food policies for 2030, in order to transform the food system into a more environmentally friendly model.
