The Swiss medical technology company Ypsomed, specialized in the development and manufacture of injection and infusion systems for self-education, will open a digital hub in Barcelona, with the forecast of creating 40 jobs in the next two years.
The company's objective is to centralize in the Catalan capital the development of new digital and connected devices that allow improving the treatment of chronic diseases, such as diabetes.
Benedikt Baumgartner, vice president of Ypsomed, justifies the choice of Barcelona because the city "is above average in important criteria for the company: it has multiple universities and a rich economic environment; it offers good access to highly qualified professionals, especially in the field of engineering and medical technology."
"Barcelona is one of the most attractive cities to work and live in Europe"The executive also highlights that Barcelona is an ideal place to establish oneself due to "working conditions, culture, and the possibility of traveling to Switzerland with ease." "Without a doubt, Barcelona is one of the most attractive cities to work and live in Europe," says Baumgartner to justify the multinational's decision.
In the process of choosing Barcelona, Ypsomed has had the support of Acció, the agency for competitiveness of the Department of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat. According to Acció, there are now subsidiaries of more than 420 Swiss companies in Catalonia.
