To accompany academically brilliant young people with limited economic resources so that they can pursue university studies. With this objective, Aigües de Barcelona and the Confederation of Neighborhood Associations of Catalonia (CONFAVC) launched in 2016 the Young Talents Scholarship program, which already has 21 scholarship students currently pursuing studies in Catalan public universities, such as the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and the University of Barcelona (UB). This Tuesday, at the Museu de les Aigües in Cornellà, the graduation ceremony for the second promotion was held, adding five more young talents to the program, which is consolidated as a
key tool for fostering inclusion and equity in education.Students adhering to the program receive a scholarship that covers the tuition fee for each course throughout the degree and 1,500 euros for expenses related to their studies. In addition, one of the differentiating aspects of the program is that
young people have specialized support throughout all their studies, to favor the development of their transversal competencies and their approach to the working world. In September 2021, the first class of young people graduated, and some of them are already working at Aigües de Barcelona. The CEO of Aigües de Barcelona, Felipe Campos, highlighted at the graduation ceremony "the value of alliances with entities such as CONFAVC", to make initiatives like the Young Talents Scholarship program a reality. "We want to facilitate access to university for brilliant young people, regardless of their resources," he stressed, adding that "for Aigües de Barcelona, social action and commitment to people are fundamental pillars" of its activity. Campos encouraged the five graduates "to turn this experience into a launch platform into the labor market, which is why it is important to interact in the Alumni program, to access job opportunities." The event featured interventions by Jordi Giró, president of CONFAVC, and Mohamed El Amrami, president of the Suara Association and a reference in the social world, and concluded with a round table moderated by Meritxell Farré, director of Social Action and Participation at Aigües de Barcelona, with the participation of the five scholarship recipients: Zepi Lin, graduate in Mechanical Engineering; Oumayya Allou, graduate in Chemical Engineering; Oumaima Seddik, graduate in Psychology; Anggie Rizo, graduate in Physics, and Oussama Ben El Fassi, graduate in Telecommunication Technologies and Services Engineering. All of them explained their experience during their studies, highlighting the importance of having obtained the scholarship to pursue the studies they dreamed of and open the doors to their professional future.
