Between large venues and independent rooms, Barcelona's theater scene is experiencing a moment of effervescence and absolute records. And it is precisely in a neighborhood that is rarely at the center of the scenic map —despite its intense cultural life— where a new and at the same time historic venue emerges: the Teatre del Raval. Founded in 1930, the theater has gone through almost a century of urban and cultural transformations in the heart of the city. After several stages and a comprehensive renovation, the venue now begins a new chapter under the artistic direction of Pep Tosar and Evelyn Arévalo. The reopening is not only conceived as a recovery of activity, but as a redefinition of its role within Barcelona's scenic ecosystem. It will not only be an exhibition space, but also an artistic platform to promote the production and projection of projects that often fall outside the most conventional theatrical circuits.
