During the first two months of this year 2018, Spanish airports accumulated a total of 30,780,207 passengers, a 9% increase compared to the same period last year, according to statistics provided by AENA.
The airport with the highest number of passengers was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with 8.04 million passengers and an 8.4% increase compared to January and February of 2017.
The second airport with the most traffic was Barcelona-El Prat, which reached 6.09 million passengers, representing an 8.7% increase compared to last year.
The third position in this ranking corresponds to Gran Canaria airport, which totaled 2.3 million passengers between January and February of this year after a 6.8% increase.
The following airports with a higher number of passengers were Málaga-Costa del Sol (1.89 million), Tenerife-Sur (1.89 million), Palma de Mallorca (1.48 million), Alicante-Elche (1.41 million), and Lanzarote (1.1 million). The one that grew the least in this group was Tenerife-Sur (0.7% increase), and the one that grew the most was Palma de Mallorca (9.1%).
Among the 15 main Spanish airports, those that increased the number of passengers the most during January and February compared to the previous year were Seville (32.4%), Valencia (27.7%), Tenerife-Norte (20.4%), and Ibiza (18.3%).

Regarding the year 2017, the total number of passengers who passed through Spanish airports was almost 250 million (249,223,044), an 8.2% increase compared to the previous year.
The global ranking for 2017 was also led by the airport of the Spanish capital, Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, which recorded 53.4 million passengers, with a 5.9% increase compared to 2016.
The second airport by number of passengers was Barcelona-El Prat, with 47.28 million and a 7.1% increase.
Palma de Mallorca was the third airport by passenger volume (27.9 million), Málaga-Costa del Sol was the fourth (18.6 million), Alicante-Elche the fifth (13.7 million), Gran Canaria the sixth (13.09 million), and Tenerife Sur the seventh (11.2 million).
