The low-cost product chain Pepco, specialized in fashion and home, continues with a strong expansion to gain market share in Catalonia. It has chosen Barcelona, specifically the Diagonal Mar shopping center, to open its sixth establishment in the territory. The store joins those that this Polish retail brand has in the shopping centers of Finestrelles, in Esplugues de Llobregat; Vilamarina, in Viladecans; Barnasud, in Gavà and Magic Badalona, in Badalona, as well as in Reus, most of them opened in 2022.
The new Pepco establishment is located on the first floor of the Diagonal Mar shopping center and occupies a total of 467 square meters. To launch it, the brand has created 10 jobs.
The growth of this chain has been exponential if one takes into account that its first store in Spain opened in April 2021, specifically in Alicante, and that it currently has 61 establishments throughout the State, six of which are in Catalonia.
Known in the retail sector as the Polish Primark for its similarity to the Irish low-cost fashion chain Primark, the Pepco group belongs to the owner of the British stores Poundland and Dealz and has focused its expansion in Central Europe. Until the arrival of Pepco, the group in Spain only had a presence with the Dealz chain, a network of food supermarkets that bases its strategy on offering leading brand products at very competitive prices, with discounts between 30% and 70%.
Regarding Pepco, the establishments offer children's and adult clothing, decoration and kitchen items, organization and cleaning, toys and educational products, as well as pet supplies. Pepco's assortment includes seasonal collections and licensed products such as Disney or Marvel and complements the offer of clothing for children and adults with products made from organic cotton. One of its characteristics, according to the company itself, is the accessibility that consumers have to all products. Currently, in Europe it has more than 2,700 stores spread across 16 countries.
