Advent calendars have regained vitality. More and more initiatives are proposing to bring back this Anglo-Saxon tradition, originating in the 19th century. This peculiar countdown of the twenty-four days leading up to Christmas Day is especially desired by children, who enjoy opening one of the calendar windows each morning to find sweets, chocolates, and other surprises inside.
However, now we have the option of acquiring an Advent calendar aimed at an adult audience and, especially, at beer lovers. For the second consecutive year, Damm has launched its particular Advent calendar, with a renewed design by English illustrator Zoë Barker. The artist has reinterpreted the facade of the Old Estrella Damm Factory, an emblematic building in the city of Barcelona dating from 1905, where beer was brewed for more than 85 years.
The cardboard structure that recreates the shape of the Old Factory hides twenty-four surprises inside, which can be discovered as the corresponding windows are opened between December 1st and 24th. Behind each of the calendar days, however, there are no chocolates, but rather beer bottles and other gifts. The beers contained in Damm's Advent calendar aim to show the brand's product diversity and, for this reason, they are almost all different, from the oldest and most traditional like Estrella Damm to the most recent, such as Duet or IPA Complot.
Damm has decided to renew its commitment to the Advent calendar after last year it marketed a limited edition online that quickly sold out. The second edition of the calendar illustrated by Zoë Barker can now be purchased at the Damm online store, at a cost of 75 euros per unit, with shipping costs included throughout Catalonia.
