"Laughter raises the curtain this season in Barcelona," reads the entrance to the old Sala Muntaner, closed since 2018 due to economic problems. A new stage is approaching in this venue in the Esquerra del Eixample that has also been a dance hall and a nightclub. This time, humor will be the main protagonist.

The future Teatro Muntaner will be reborn at the hands of the entertainment company Corta el Cable Rojo, led by producer Sandra Reyes. In addition to the banner announcing the news, rehabilitation work has already begun inside the space. After six years since its closure, it is expected to reopen its doors in autumn, with Barcelona actor and showman Toni Cano as director.

The future theater, located at number 4 Muntaner Street, between Gran Via and Sepúlveda, will host the stable programming of Corta el cable rojo, specialists in improvisation. The production company has a show with the same title that has been a great success on the Madrid billboard for years. They arrived in Barcelona in the 2022-2023 season, landing at the Teatro Apolo, where they established a stable company.

The production company began performing in 2011, at the Beer Station in Madrid, a small comedy club near Callao. Previously, it had founded a comedy school. A year later, in 2012, they moved to the La Chocita del Loro theater on Gran Via and in 2015 they went to the Pequeño Teatro, also on Gran Via. After 12 years, the improshow Corta el cable rojo continues on the billboard and has more than 2,000 performances and 500,000 spectators.
