The Generalitat de Catalunya offers more than 200 professional certificates from 26 different families to train and specialize in a profession. The professional certificates are a quality training offer, which is taken in small groups and includes a period of internships in the company. These are short trainings, mostly between 200 and 600 hours. In addition, they are an official qualification that is valid throughout the Spanish and European territory.
Each professional certificate accredits a professional qualification from the National Catalogue of Professional Qualifications. Therefore, it allows people to acquire the professional competences necessary to perform various jobs in a qualified manner, responding to the demands of the labor market. The completion of a professional certificate guarantees that the knowledge, skills, and aptitudes necessary to carry out a work activity according to the requirements of the world of employment have been achieved.

Professional certificates are structured in modules. For this reason, they are flexible and accumulable trainings, which also allow access to training cycles. They can be taken throughout the year through the SOC's own centers (the CIFO), collaborating entities of the FPCAT System, as well as in vocational training centers of the Departament d'Educació.

For the professional practice of some occupations in certain sectors, such as, for example, the sector of care for dependency, sports, the application of biocides or industrial installations, it is essential to previously obtain the document that certifies the professional competence of the worker.
This documentation can be a professional certificate, a vocational training degree, or other types of professional cards that accredit professional qualification.
Vocational training
Professional certificates are included within the framework of the FPCAT System. Vocational training is flexible training, which adapts to the labor market and the needs of individuals. It is modular, because each person can create their own training itinerary, and cumulative, since the training achieved can be added up to obtain an official certification.
