The reconversion of Plaça de les Glòries into a new centrality and green space will take a decisive step on April 26: the central area of the park will open to the public after years of construction. This area, covering 4.3 hectares, includes 9,000 square meters of green space, a promenade, and new areas for activities, ranging from sports to relaxation.

With the opening of this last piece of the park, the transformation of Glòries will have gained a total of nine hectares for neighborhood use; 30,000 square meters of green space and more than a thousand trees. To celebrate, the City Council has organized a festive day that will last from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. with musical shows, workshops, and activities.

The park will feature new spaces, such as the 700-square-meter Umbracle for organizing events in the shade; a 2,500-square-meter multipurpose space surrounded by giant bamboos and named after Honduran activist Berta Cáceres, and an immersion garden with species adapted to climate change.

The space will also have another children's play area of almost 2,000 square meters with 35 elements, a sandpit, seating areas, a water park that will open in the summer months, a 1,200-square-meter dog recreation area, and new biodiversity nodes and flowerbeds.

To welcome this new city space, shows and activities will be offered on the inauguration Saturday, distributed throughout its various areas. The program will include two stages, with performances by groups such as Ambauka and Todos los Gatos son Pardos, to open and close the celebration, respectively.

In addition, there will be activities such as a magic show, swing dances, a chocolate party, storytelling, and puppets. Furthermore, an exhibition will review how Glòries has evolved over the years, which can be seen in various areas of the park and will recall the road ring that overlooked the square not so long ago.

To accompany the celebration, facilities and services in the area will join the party, such as the Disseny Hub Barcelona ---which will offer open doors throughout the day---, as well as the Farinera del Clot, the Mercat dels Encants, the Mirador de Glòries, and associations and entities from the surroundings, who will celebrate the culmination of works that have lasted more than a decade.
