The Cursa Diagonal DiR Guàrdia Urbana returns for another year, celebrating its tenth birthday with many new features. Under the slogan 10 years making Barcelona beat, the city will be filled with sport on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, with the incorporation of a mile, with more than 1,600 meters to beat all personal records, and the return of the 5-kilometer race. The little ones will not stay at home, with a fun route to start getting excited about running like the adults in the family.
The first day will feature the new mile, a race of a total of 1,609 meters that will take place at the Diagonal DiR facilities. The objective of the mile is to promote physical activity over "a short, fast, and manageable distance for everyone". Participants must be over 12 years old.
The mile will be held in two spaces, with the peculiarity that the start and finish will be at different points to "create a cross atmosphere". Participants will have to complete three laps, two of which will be on a linear out-and-back circuit along Bori i Fontestà street, between Dr. Fleming and Ganduxer. It will be from end to end, making a 180-degree turn. To add excitement, the race will end with a final lap inside the Piscines i Esports Park, next to Diagonal DiR.
Saturday, May 25 will be complemented by the Cursa DiR Kids, "a sports party for the whole family". The circuit will be around the Piscines i Esports Park. Children from one year old up to 11 years old can participate.
Once the mile and the Cursa DiR Kids have reached the finish line, the second day of sport will feature the 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer races, recovered after a few years of absence. These two races are designed for everyone, adapting to individual tastes, and feature "an unbeatable route", going downhill and following an emblematic course.
On Sunday, May 26, the 10k race will start at Palau Reial and end at the sea, meaning it will follow Diagonal from end to end. For one day, one of Barcelona's most iconic and majestic streets exchanges the noise of cars and traffic for the encouragement and presence of all runners. On the other hand, the 5k will have the same starting point as the 10k, but its finish line will be on Avenida Diagonal, between Naples and Sicily streets. Without a doubt, the Cursa Diagonal DiR Guàrdia Urbana is incomparable.
Furthermore, solidarity and the race go hand in hand. This year, all donations from the adult races will go to Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, while two euros from each Cursa Kids registration will go to the Aprenem Autisme association.
