This Wednesday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m., the first session of the cycle Everything you want to know about the America's Cup, which The New Barcelona Post promotes to bring the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup closer to the public, will be held. With all tickets sold out, the event is sponsored by the Port de Barcelona, the Barcelona City Council, Estrella Damm and the Fundació Barcelona Capital Nàutica, in addition to having the collaboration of Giny and Must Media Group, and with the participation of America's Cup Event Barcelona (ACE).

The Councilor for Sports of the Barcelona City Council, David Escudé, will be in charge of inaugurating the day, which will focus on explaining the origin of the America's Cup and the reasons that have led the defending team of the trophy, Emirates Team New Zealand, to choose the Catalan capital to hold the regatta. Likewise, the economic and media impact that the competition will have will be analyzed, the importance it has for the city will be debated, and the main novelties that the Barcelona edition brings will be explained, such as the celebration, for the first time, of a women's regatta, the Puig Women's America's Cup.

In addition to the councilor, David Pino, coordinator of the America's Cup of the Port de Barcelona; Albert Vilumara, corporate director of the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup; and Santi Serrat, an expert communicator specialized in the America's Cup, with whom we will take a tour through the 174 years of history of the regatta and learn about its great contributions to the world of sailing, will also participate.

Journalist Ana Boadas will be in charge of presenting and conducting the day, which will take place at the Antigua Fábrica Estrella Damm and which sold out all available tickets in record time. To attend the event, which in a few days can also be recovered on our YouTube channel and listened to in podcast format on Spotify, it is essential to have a ticket.

The cycle Everything you want to know about the America's Cup is an initiative aimed at those who want to learn more about the multiple aspects of the competition, from its history, calendar and technical innovations, to the legacy that the event will leave in the city. Thus, three other sessions will be organized in the coming months of May, June and July. Tickets for each of these editions can be reserved fifteen days in advance through a link that we will publish in The New Barcelona Post and through our social networks.

Dates of the next sessions

Specifically, the following three days will allow us to immerse ourselves in the rules of the game of the competition; understand why the America's Cup is considered a benchmark in innovation and sustainability; and debate about the legacy we want the event to leave in the city, respectively. Thus, theMay 15 it will be presented as a practical session to understand how the regatta works, to learn more about the teams and the calendar, and to disseminate the parallel revitalization activities that the organization is preparing.

On June 19, we will give a voice to the engineers so they can explain the characteristics and technical innovations of the AC75 boats —with which the men will compete— and the AC40, the boat that will be used in the women's and youth regattas. Finally, on July 17, we will ask ourselves what will remain after the America's Cup, emphasizing elements such as the transformation of Port Vell and Port Olímpic, the boost to activities linked to the blue economy —which emerges as a sector with great potential in Barcelona— and the promotion of nautical activities so that the city looks more to the sea and the passion for sailing grows.
