After two years of absence due to Covid-19 restrictions, the El Corte Inglés Cursa will return to the streets of Barcelona next April 24. The Cursa is not without novelties: for the first time it will be held on a 10-kilometer urban circuit approved by the Catalan Athletics Federation, it modifies the route and passes through wider streets.

With start from Avenida Diagonal ---this enclave is also one of the changes---, the route of the 42nd edition of one of the five most important popular races in the world will also be faster. The roads it will travel are wider than in previous editions and improve the fluidity of participants and, in addition, are considered some of the most attractive in the city to enjoy running in Barcelona.

It should be noted that, in its last call in 2019, the Cursa welcomed 46,382 runners at the start. The popular athletic event organized by El Corte Inglés has already accumulated 2,409,838 participants since its first edition in 1979, and remains the third most participated popular race in the world, achieving a figure of 109,457 runners in 1994.

This year, under the slogan Torna la Cursa (The Race Returns), the start will take place in front of El Corte Inglés on Diagonal and will continue along Avenida Diagonal to Plaza Francesc Macià and until reaching the intersection with Paseo de Gràcia. There the race will turn right, along Paseo de Gràcia, to Calle Aragó at the intersection with Calle Viladomat, where the halfway point of the route (Km 5) will be located.

Immediately after, it will descend along Viladomat to Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, to reach Calle Marina. From there, runners will head to Calle Ausiàs March to reach Ronda Sant Pere and to the finish line, located on Passeig de Gràcia, in front of El Corte Inglés in Plaça Catalunya.

The organizer of the popular athletic race, El Corte Inglés, considers this a special edition, so all participants who have passed the three time controls will be able to collect a finisher medal, starting on April 27, at the El Corte Inglés establishments in Diagonal and Portal de l'Àngel.
