To give parents tools to educate their children against school bullying. This is the objective of Educating against bullying, the new project just launched by the ColaCao Foundation on the occasion of World Anti-Bullying Day, celebrated this Tuesday. The initiative consists of an online platform offering free audiovisual content designed to prevent bullying in classrooms.

"Our goal is to provide rigorous and quality content," explains Javier Coromina, a board member of the Colacao Foundation, who points out that "there is a lot of noise around these issues, so families tell us they need light amidst so much uncertainty." In this sense, on the website educandocontraelbullying.com, interactive content can be found that allows learning all the keys around school bullying and how to educate children in self-confidence and empowerment.

"I am that person who suffered bullying and had a very bad time as a young person at a time when these were 'kids' stuff.' I believe I am alive today because back then there were no social media," states journalist Carme Chaparro, a victim of bullying in her childhood, in one of the videos that are part of the platform. The harsh testimony of Jero García, former boxer, is also included, who admits he was a bully, although "he didn't know it." "Never in my life did I think I could be causing so much pain," he reflects. Another protagonist who has raised her voice against bullying in this project is also journalist Sara Carbonero, who speaks as a mother concerned about the advance of this social problem. "I would like what is happening with mental health to happen with bullying; a very short time ago it was a great taboo and now it is not so much," says Carbonero.

Educating against bullying invites users to reflect through everyday situations on the dynamics established with their children, and incorporates videos with testimonies from parents whose children have suffered school bullying experiences and whose testimony can help other people address a case of bullying. The platform also includes experts such as pediatrician Lucía Galán or psychologists Rafa Guerrero or Claudia Pradas, who contribute their knowledge to give families keys to empower their children and fight against school bullying through emotional education and active listening.

"When our son or daughter suffers bullying, some of their behaviors can be a generalized drop in their grades, or, quite the opposite, they take refuge in their studies and get very good grades. Socially, something that can alert us is that they stop going out with their usual friends, and prefer to stay at home. In short, in cases of school bullying, victims lose interest in everything they were passionate about before", explains Lucia Galán about the behavioral signs that should alert us as parents.

The ColaCao Foundation's initiative seeks to address this problem from all angles, incorporating the vision of the victims, but also of the witnesses ---classmates who do not report the situations--- and of the bullies. Thus, different topics will be reflected, such as the signs of bullying, cyberbullying, the differences between bullying and other conflicts, the aftermath in adult life, or self-esteem and empowerment. Each week a new video will be released on the platform, which will delve into one of the topics that make up the content of the project.
