It is not common for a company to be created simultaneously in Barcelona and Copenhagen. This is how the startup Abzu decided to do it. The commitment to a shared headquarters is explained by the difficulty of finding the professional profiles the company needed in Denmark, especially programmers and software developers. With the support of Acció, it established itself in the Catalan capital, where it manages technological product development.

A portion of the six million that Abzu has just obtained in an investment round will be allocated to strengthening the team at the Barcelona office, with the aim of accelerating the development of its own artificial intelligence technology. Specifically, the startup uses an algorithm to identify relationships between different data sources and facilitate decision-making in the processes of creating new drugs and clinical studies. The company aims to expand the sectors in which it operates in the future.

In the round, which will also be allocated to the Copenhagen offices, mainly international investors from the Nordic countries such as Seed Capital, Inventure, and PreSeed Ventures participated, as well as several business angels. Founded in 2018, Abzu has a staff of 18 employees. Its forecast is to reach 30 this year.
