Each Caprabo supermarket delivery truck will have the same environmental effect as a green area of adult trees and will purify the air, as it will reduce its pollution. Why? Because the company has incorporated technology into its fleet of trucks to compensate for the pollution caused by vehicles in motion. For now, it has applied it to 30% of the total fleet of 115 vehicles.

To do this, the chain has begun the process of labeling its delivery trucks with an innovative system, commercially known as PureAir Print, which purifies the air and decontaminates the environment upon contact with sunlight. This technology, developed by the American company Pureti, is based on photocatalysis, a process that allows sunlight to activate nanoparticles called Ti02 (titanium dioxide), transforming all polluting substances suspended in the air into water vapor. This process is constantly repeated, so that the vehicle itself compensates for all the pollution it generates, with natural light and the printing itself purifying and cleaning the environment.

Each square meter of surface printed with PureAir Print is equivalent to the environmental effect of an adult tree. Therefore, a standard-sized truck decontaminates the same as a green area with 38 trees, or 98 trees if it is a trailer.

According to Caprabo, it is an effective and creative way to minimize the impact of hydrocarbon pollution on the environment, while also being a solution that reduces the replacement cycle of labeling and washing, by repelling the dust that accumulates on the vehicle.

Improvements in transport processes and increasing the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions are areas in which the company works with various actions. Among them, in 2019, the reuse and recycling of textiles recovered in Caprabo stores saved 422 tons of CO2 emissions.

Caprabo's environmental actions focus on the fight against food waste, with its Micro-donation Program with food banks; the recycling of plastic, porex, cardboard, and organic products through reverse logistics; the rationalization in the use of packaging; energy efficiency in its new generation supermarkets; and the promotion of good practices, among other initiatives.

The supermarket chain has already adapted 30% of its total vehicle fleet.
