With a concert by tenor Andrea Bocelli, this year's edition of the Cap Roig Festival has come to an end. In total, 29 national and international performances made up an eclectic and top-level lineup, with the aim of offering quality cultural offerings reaching the largest possible number of audiences. Artists such as Luis Miguel, Bryan Ferry, Manolo García, Texas, Sting & Shaggy, Antonio Orozco, Luz Casal, Damien Rice, Maná, Jarabe de Palo, Juanes, Rosario, Joan Dausà, Mag Lari, James Blunt, Morat, Sergio Dalma, Els Catarres, Dàmaris Gelabert, Macaco, Loquillo, Antonio José, Joan Baez, Hombres G, Taburete, Roger Hodgson, Pablo López, Maná and Andrea Bocelli have graced the Cap Roig stage.

The Cap Roig Festival, directed by Clipper's Live and promoted by the "la Caixa" Banking Foundation, thus closes its eighteenth edition, surpassing, one more year, its own attendance record with the figure of 56,261 spectators.

The economic impact of the event is also relevant. In addition to generating 200 stable jobs, according to a study carried out by PwC, its impact on Catalonia's GDP exceeds 18 million euros.

The general director of the "la Caixa" Banking Foundation, Jaume Giró, highlighted that "the Cap Roig Festival has come of age in an unbeatable state: fully consolidated as a benchmark cultural event in Southern Europe; with an increasingly prestigious and balanced lineup; and once again surpassing its own audience record, with 10,000 more spectators than in 2017".

Giró added that in "recent years we have worked to expand the festival beyond the strictly musical sphere, and turn it into a solidarity, recreational, gastronomic and cultural experience, in a privileged natural environment, with one of the most important botanical gardens in Europe." He also referred to the ongoing project to "dynamize Cap Roig, providing it with a permanent space for debate and intellectual reflection, which generates activity in the Costa Brava area throughout the year"

Sting's performance in the current edition

The director of the Cap Roig Festival and president of Clipper's Live, Juli Guiu, has shown himself to be "very satisfied that once again the public has so widely supported the different proposals of the festival. We have opted for a broad lineup of artists covering different genres, always prioritizing quality and the most prominent figures in the national and international music scene of the moment. I am very proud of the great effort of my entire team after these 29 nights and 21 sold outs, as we have achieved a new attendance record this year". Guiu thanked all the sponsors for their support and trust: "Their collaboration contributes, one more year, to making the event a unique experience that endorses it as a benchmark boutique festival at a European level."

CHARITY CONCERT AND PROGRAMMING FOR CHILDREN

The festival also featured a charity night. A portion of the proceeds from Antonio José's concert, held on August 13, went to benefit the TRESC - Treball amb Suport Foundation, from Palafrugell, an entity that works on the training and labor insertion of people with disabilities and mental illness.

One more year, Cap Roig Mini, an initiative that began in 2013 as the festival's children's program, is consolidated. This year, shows by Mag Lari and Dàmaris Gelabert have been programmed, making the youngest members of the family the protagonists.

QUALITY GASTRONOMIC OFFER THAT TURNS THE FESTIVAL INTO A COMPLETE EXPERIENCE

Quality gastronomy focused on local products from Empordà has a prominent presence at the festival thanks to the prestigious Via Veneto restaurant. With its renewed Michelin star and 40 years of experience, the entire front-of-house team moves to Cap Roig and, in addition, is reinforced with about 60 people from the region to achieve a staff of about 100 people.

Its gastronomic offer in the three spaces (plaza, cloister, and restaurant) adapts to the spectator with quality proposals, taking into account local products and local suppliers in one of the most beautiful places on the Costa Brava.

FIRST MUSIC FESTIVAL IN THE WORLD WITH BIOSPHERE CERTIFICATE

In the last edition, the festival obtained the Biosphere certificate, which implies a commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, approved at the 2015 United Nations Summit and at the Paris Summit against Climate Change (COP21). The promotion of the economic and social development of the territory, the hiring of people at risk of social exclusion, the minimum environmental impact, the compensation of greenhouse gas emissions generated during the festival, and responsible consumption are some of the criteria that have led to obtaining this distinction granted by the Responsible Tourism Institute (ITR) and based on the sustainability criteria established in the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
