The Barcelona Nord bus station has been transformed into a new sustainable tourism mobility space thanks to the comprehensive renovation and improvement of services at one of the city's busiest points in terms of transport connections. In the last five years, the station has seen more than 10 million travelers pass through and has registered more than 600,000 expeditions.

This road transport hub is one of the busiest in the city and is currently recovering traveler traffic, although without reaching pre-pandemic levels. In the third quarter of 2021, coinciding with the summer months, it has had 28,332 expeditions, far exceeding the figures for 2020, and reaching almost 70% of the activity of the same period in 2019, thus approaching pre-pandemic levels.

The remodeling allows this transport communications center to be strengthened as a point of arrival and departure flows for local, national, and international travelers, who will be offered better services, as some of the transport lines for tourist or discretionary lines that until now departed from the city center have been relocated, also contributing to pacifying the most congested areas of Barcelona.

An example of this change is the Tibibus, the shuttle that connects the center with Tibidabo, which previously departed from Plaça Catalunya and has been operating from Estació del Nord since last June. Also in June, the company Julià Tours, which has moved its central offices to this facility, and Catalunya Bus Turístic began their activity at the station, offering other excursions to various tourist points such as Montserrat, Port Aventura, or the Camp Nou Experience.

The Julià company has also renovated its customer service offices.

The objective of the Barcelona City Council is to promote cultural and local tourism, encourage quality collective transport, and improve the service experience and connection between different modes of public transport, in addition to gaining public space for citizens, contributing to the city's global sustainable mobility policy.

Thus, since the end of 2020, the station's facilities have undergone a renovation that has been carried out in several phases totaling a period of six months, and which have allowed, among other things, the creation of a new access that connects with the Arc de Triomf Metro and commuter train station. The improvement works have been planned by the Mobility and Tourism departments of the Barcelona City Council and its public company Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (B:SM), with an investment of nearly half a million euros.

In the last five years, more than 10 million travelers have passed through the station and more than 600,000 expeditions have been registered
With these changes, the station now has a new entrance door ---previously occupied by a restaurant area, which has been replaced in another part of the premises by a new cafeteria-- next to which the so-calledEspai de la Mediterrània, an area intended to serve users of tourist excursionsand also designed as a waiting room, with direct access to the platforms from where the coaches depart, which offers greater convenience and comfort.

The facility has a new rest area.
