BWT Ibérica, which belongs to the Austrian group Best Water Technology Group, will invest 50 million euros to expand its facilities in Sant Cugat del Vallès, where it will create 150 jobs. The company, specialized in water optimization solutions, will centralize the distribution for southern Europe of all products from the pool division in a new logistics platform.
To undertake the project, BWT Ibérica has purchased from the Institut Català del Sòl (Incasòl) one of the last available plots in the Can Sant Joan industrial park, where it has had other facilities since 2008, so that when the new construction is finished, it will have a total of 37,943 square meters of surface area. The Austrian multinational has disbursed 25 million euros for the acquisition of the land and plans to invest another 25 million in the construction of the platform, according to Santiago Fernández, general director of BWT Ibérica.
BWT Ibérica's logistics hub will be the recipient of products for the pool sector manufactured by the group and will act as a regulatory center for the multinational itself in Spain, Portugal, France, and Italy. The company, which manufactures, installs, and provides maintenance services for pools, markets products for all types of treatments (PH control, disinfection, salt chlorination, cleaning robots, etc.). "Water treatments and the pool sector have registered a significant increase in recent years and have growth potential," explains Santiago Fernández to justify the choice of Sant Cugat.
The research and development staff of this multinational, based in Mondsee for 30 years, works on new techniques and materials using cutting-edge methods to develop economic and ecological products for all areas of its activity. Currently, with a workforce of 5,000 people, Best Water Technology Group has more than 80 subsidiaries and branches worldwide, to develop and market solutions for water optimization for residential, industrial and pharmaceutical uses. It also has R&D departments in France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Russia. In Spain, it has about 200 workers, with factories in Cornellà de Llobregat and Vallirana for the manufacture of products for the pharmaceutical sector and descaling equipment for domestic use, among others.
