The technology consultancy Seidor is advancing on its path to become one of the world's leading firms. The US investment fund Carlyle has become its majority partner with the purchase of 60% of its capital, for an undisclosed amount. The company, a specialist in the implementation of SAP business software, was entirely controlled until now by the Benito family, which retains the remaining 40%.

The operation, which will have to be ratified by the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC), will maintain its registered office in Vic, where brothers Santiago and Andreu Benito founded the technology consultancy in 1982. Josep Benito, the youngest of the three brothers who own the group and until now CEO, will assume the position of executive chairman.

The company, with headquarters in 22@, is thus preparing the ground for an IPO in the medium term. "The incorporation of Carlyle into Seidor's shareholding demonstrates the market's confidence in our strategy. It provides us not only with the financial capacity to accelerate our growth, but also with experience and good business management practices," says Josep Benito, "it is a big step to become a world-leading technology company."

Carlyle's entry, which had already invested in Catalan companies such as Codorníu, will also serve to accelerate Seidor's growth plans, which recorded a turnover of 894 million euros in 2023, 19% more than the previous year, and expects to exceed 1,000 million euros this 2024. The operational focus is on Spain and it wants to grow in the United States and Europe, especially in Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Nordic countries. With a global workforce of 9,000 employees, the technology consultancy is present in a total of 45 markets, also located in Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

In recent years, the Osona-based company has strengthened itself with acquisitions of firms such as the Spanish Gesein and Opentrends. It has also gone shopping in Europe with the incorporation of HT High Technology, GunPowder and ECA Consult (Italy), WorkWell (France), and Teamsoft (Ireland and the United Kingdom).
