LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR

Thank you very much, Barcelona, one year with you

"Good news, you are in Barcelona. Let's recover the Barcelona you want. The one of culture and businesses. A positive Barcelona, open to everything and everyone. The Barcelona you want to read". This is the motto that The New Barcelona Post chose exactly one year ago to introduce itself to its readers and announce the birth of a new digital newspaper focused on information that contributes to strengthening the city's brand, attracting and promoting talent, and making us proud of our country.

It has been twelve intense months, marked by effort and the enthusiasm to carry forward a new editorial project that wants to add, build positively, move away from the noise and media trenches, and bet on quality journalism that allows highlighting the assets that make this city one of the best places in the world to live.

Despite the difficulties derived from the pandemic, the structural problems we suffer as a society, inequalities or the existing tension in too many areas, during this first year we have been able to find interesting stories to convey to the reader, good news that shows that not everything is going wrong and that allows us to see that there is a desire to undertake, to row, to launch new projects, to invest, to risk and to work for a more prosperous, leading, technological, sustainable, supportive and resilient Barcelona of tomorrow.

Information about Catalan companies, about multinationals that bet on Barcelona and about the dozens of emerging companies that try to make their way and contribute to enlarging the technological and scientific ecosystem that has consolidated in the city have focused the bulk of the content that we have brought you this first year. But we have also wanted to give great prominence to people, to all the not always visible talent existing in multiple fields; we have emphasized women and also the scientific world and all the entrepreneurial activity existing in the main technological and research centers.

Culture, the backbone of a city like Barcelona, has been the other great focus of attention of our digital newspaper, with content linked to the extensive exhibition, musical and theatrical offer that each month we also try to summarize in a carefully curated cultural agenda of which I hope you are all already subscribers. We have also been excited to offer a series of videos dedicated to urban art; we soon hope to start a second season. But The New Barcelona Post is also leisure, commerce, design, fashion, gastronomy and tourism, activities that make the city vibrate every day and that now that the pandemic seems to be subsiding will gain more visibility in the publication.

I want to thank all the people who have supported us in this start-up phase, especially the readers, who give meaning to our work, and the companies and institutions that have trusted us. Thank you for reading us, for subscribing to our weekly newsletter, for following us on social media and for encouraging us to move forward and consolidate this project. I also want to thank our collaborators and columnists and the entire team for their commitment to The New Barcelona Post, which has made this publication a reality thanks to an intense dedication never sufficiently recognized.

We begin a second year with renewed energy, with many projects ahead, expanding the newsroom and with the desire to grow the audience with more quality information and stimulating initiatives that help strengthen the Barcelona brand, project it to the world and make us aware of the important assets we already have and that position us as references in many fields.

Like many of the stories of young entrepreneurs that we have told you this year, we are a startup that has just started. We have a long way to go, much to prove, much to improve, much work to do and many stories to tell. Without denying reality, without wanting to adopt a naive position, I believe that it is worth narrating what happens from a positive perspective, from a prism of optimism that cohesifies and allows us to move forward to build a better city, a city that must once again be admired internationally and be a beacon for talent and investment. I invite you to continue accompanying us on this journey, to help us improve every day, to disseminate our information and to reach further and more readers.

Many thanks from the entire team. Congratulations to everyone on this first anniversary!
